2. GRAMMAR: A/AN, VERB TO BE, COMPARATIVE AND TO CAN. 


-Write “a” before a singular noun which starts with a consonant.

*Escribe “a” antes de un sustantivo singular que empiece con consonante.

                                         Example: a lion.


-Write “an” before a singular noun which starts with a vowel.

*Escribe “an” antes de un sustantivo singular que empiece con vocal.

                                       Example: an eagle.

Adjectives

Big / Large = grande

Small = pequeño

Tall = alto

Short = bajo

Strong = fuerte

Weak = débil

Fast = rápido

Slow = lento


Comparative


Use comparative adjectives to compare two nouns among them.

*Usa los adjetivos comparativos para comparar dos sustantivos entre sí. 


Comparative adjectives (-er)

Bigger / Larger = más grande

Smaller = más pequeño

Taller = más alto

Shorter = más bajo

Stronger = más fuerte

Weaker = más débil

Faster = más rápido

Slower = más lento

Heavier = más pesado

Lighter = más ligeros



   Noun/pronoun 1 + verb to be + comparative adjective + than+ noun/pronoun 2


Singular: A Lion  is  bigger  than  an eagle.


Plural: Oxes  are  stronger  than  geese.


Remember the pronoun “it” can use instead of a singular noun.

*Recuerda que el pronombre “It” se puede usar en lugar de un sustantivo singular.

Example: A shark is stronger than a tuna. It is strong.


Remember the pronoun “they” can use instead of a plural noun.

*Recuerda que el pronombre “It” se puede usar en lugar de un sustantivo singular.

Example: Sharks are stronger than tunas. They are strong.


TO CAN

Singular and plural

can = puede


Yes, it can = sí puede.


Yes, they can = sí pueden.

can’t = no puede


No, it can’t = no, no puede.


No, they can’t = no, no pueden.


Sheeps can eat grass because it is a herbivore. Sheeps can’t eat meat. 


A lion can’t eat grass because it is a carnivore. A lion can eat meat.
